What Is Dental Implant Restoration ? |
Dental implants are placed to address the cosmetic and functional consequences of tooth loss. They consist of titanium posts that are surgically embedded into the jawbone and replacement teeth that are securely attached to the titanium posts. Dental implant restoration is a safe, sturdy, and natural-looking solution to missing teeth. |
How Are Dental Implants Placed ? |
Dental implant restoration can be completed in only two office visits. In the first visit, the titanium posts are surgically placed in the jawbone. The second visit will take place approximately three to six months later, after the titanium post has been given time to fuse with the jawbone. In the second part of the procedure, the replacement teeth are attached to the titanium posts. In both procedures, sedation dentistry technology is used so that the patient will not feel any pain or discomfort during treatment. |
What Are Replacement Teeth Made Of? |
The type of replacement teeth that are used in dental implant restoration will depend on the patient's individual needs and goals. If the patient is missing only one tooth, then a dental crown is typically used. Dental bridges may be utilized if more than one tooth is being replaced. In all cases, the dentist will strive to provide the most natural-looking and effective dental implant restoration possible. |
What is orthodontics? |
Orthodontics is the field of dentistry that focuses on enhancing a patient's profile and smile by straightening their teeth. Braces and other orthodontic treatment alternatives are used to correct a patient's bite and align their teeth, resulting in improved dental health and increased self-confidence |
How do orthodontists straighten teeth? |
Orthodontists use braces and other orthodontic alternatives to gradually reposition the teeth and jaw to achieve an optimum bite, improving the patient's appearance and health. Braces are brackets attached to the teeth and connected by arch wire that gently guide crooked teeth into the correct positions. |
Why is straightening your teeth important? |
If left untreated, malocclusions or "bad bites" can lead to gum disease, tooth decay, tooth loss, digestive problems and other health issues. Also, straightening your teeth can improve your appearance and self-esteem. |
What causes orthodontic problems? |
Orthodontic problems are typically inherited, but they can also be acquired by developmental factors. Some of the most commonly inherited conditions include crooked teeth, crowded teeth and other irregularities of the teeth and jaw. Acquired problems can be caused by developmental factors such as thumb sucking, mouth breathing, and the premature loss of baby or permanent teeth. |
How much do orthodontic treatments usually cost? |
The cost of treatment depends on numerous factors, including the complexity, method and estimated length of treatment. So, treatment costs for individual cases will vary. Correcting an orthodontic problem early can be far more cost-effective than treating the more serious problems it can cause over the years. |
How long do orthodontic treatments usually last? |
Generally, orthodontic treatments usually last from 18 to 30 months, with the average treatment taking 24 months. Length of treatment depends on the severity of the problem, the proposed treatment plan, the patient's cooperation and other factors. |
How do I take care of my braces? |
As always, it's very important to practice good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing after every meal. Hard and sticky foods should be avoided since they can damage your braces. Be sure to keep all of your orthodontic appointments and follow the instructions and recommendations given by your orthodontist. |
